He sees the Native American lead initiatives such as space debris, climate crisis mitigation, and planetary defense capability to protect the Earth from asteroids.

In February 2013, a large asteroid exploded over Chelyabinsk, Russia. The asteroid moved over eleven miles per second and blew apart 14 miles above the ground. The explosion released the energy equivalent of around 440,000 tons of TNT and damaged buildings with its shock wave. Windows were shattered in an area over 200 square miles. Over 1,600 people were injured in the blast.
On Sept. 26, 2022, NASA’s Double Asteroid Redirection Test (DART) spacecraft intentionally slammed into the asteroid moonlet Dimorphos and altered its orbit by 33 minutes.
